My second run on this course, this time on a cross bike. With 75-80% of this ride on pavement , a cross bike made this much faster than last year for me and team mate Mark Ingwersen. Thanks to the help from Jim and Shilo of ACME bikes from helping me set up my Boone 5 with bontrager CXO38 tires. The bike handled well down the muddy wet dirt down hill and was fast rolling on the pavement. Like last year, I was lucky to have Mark work with me as we made our way in and out of packs of riders. Conditions were not as good as last year but no complaints! The creek crossing was not as bad as I thought it would be and the only surprise of the day was catching up to team mate Jim Hewett about 20+ miles in working on his second flat. Once again the hill at the end ate me up as I watched Mark pull away but this years bike helped me pick up a few seconds from last year. Team ACME missed Steven Flynn and Jim competing for top honors but Carson Benjamin and new ACME member Phil Mooney took top ten honors. This year's Old Caz had sun and No wind, with Mark , Cathy and I all finishing and posting good times for the team. A promising start to what should be another fun year of bike racing.
