Really excited to be back into the mid-week race series, Acme Shorty. This race is fast fun and about 25 minutes in the pain cave. Before the race, I meet up with my friend, Sebastian Dow, a Bear Development racer and we road to my teammates house, Thomas Gibson, to meet and ride the course for our warm up. Climbing up the hill to where the race starts is where my nerves and excitement start to kick in. I could see fellow racers and hear the music at the top of the hill. When we got to the race start, we had about a half an hour till the Cat 1 racers went off. We road the course a few times to warm up and get a feel for the course. Then, we heard them call us to the start. I got in the front line which was nice, because the race is so fast. We went off with Sebastian taking the whole shot and I was sitting in about 4th or 5th. Sebastian did not take the tactical approach and he was gone on the first lap. He ended up holding that position and winning the race. For about the first 2 laps I tried to stay on my teammate, Mark Gibson’s wheel, then he eventually dropped me. For the third lap, I was by myself until a rider from Redwood High School caught up to me. He stayed on my wheel for the next two laps with no one behind him and no one in front of me. On the last lap, he attacked me, and I couldn’t match him. I was happy to finish third in Cat 1 Open men.
