Today was the Ft. Ord CCCX race! I raced 13 and under.

I did this race last year and got first place. Although my competition was not significant that year, I still had a great time.

But back to the current CCCX race.  I started behind a lot of adults but luckily passed a lot of them all on the first pavement climb.

After the first half lap (in my class you do a 1/2 lap and then you do three laps after that) I got stuck behind some people but they were nice and I got to chat tiredly.

I believe that my second was my slowest, my first was my fastest,

and my last in the middle.

At the beginning of my last lap I felt something click in my pedal, and I tried to unclip but instead my pedal fell off of my spindle!  Although it was hard, I continued hammering up the climbs. And my right foots cleat was carrying my pedal and that kept my foot from slipping off my spindle for most of the lap.

At the end I was finishing strong ( unfortunately with one foot pedaling), in first place. Overall this race was very satisfying and I hope to do it again.

This race was a great way to start of my racing season!
