It rained most of the day before a little unexpectedly, and some at night and in the morning. So the course was pretty muddy, but not trashed in really anyway. It was a great day to race weather wise. Mostly foggy, beautiful and even a bit warm.

I've done the race something like 7 or 8 times and it's a great one. Was bummed a bit to see the turnout real low, especially in the Pro class, but hey, I have the day off work and I'm alive and it's a great day to ride, etc.,  so was still real psyched.

I need to check the names, but I believe it was me racing Jim Hewett, Joe Woods?, and someone else.

Well, the start went well and Jim and I were able to pretty much drop the other two by the pretty mandatory cyclocross style runup and then I gave up the glasses cuz I was already sick of the shitty view and proceeded to get mud flung in my eyes trying to stay on Jim's wheel.

He encouraged me to push it abit and get across the flats to the next descent and climb into the forest, and that was great because we created a gap where the other two and any fast experts were not gonna be able to see us too much anymore.

I had a great race really as I didn't bobble much if at all, and pacing with Jim and letting him worry about the turns was nice. The two or three main descents are where I'd start to lose him and the highlight of my race really was seeing him not too far off on the climb out of the backside, when any of the serious descending was done. I continued to feel very decent, right around the 1:20?? mark and was able to stay on the gas on the climb and didn't really let Jim run away w/ it (how hard he was pushing to win out of only 4 in our class, I'm not real sure..).

Descending back down the steepish runup towards the end was fun. A little before then I could see that no one was really gonna challenge me for 2nd place, so I cruised in and put in and effort around the paved track at the end to minimize the gap to 1st. I think it was 13 or so secs?

Anyway, hats off to Jim for winning this race 2 or more times now, against alot faster folks.

Congrats to Shiloh too who just showed up and did his casual destruction and was 4th er 5th overall?

Was fun hangin w/ all the Acme crew (thanks for the chair), and good job to Mark, Greg, David and Mike.

And good job to Cathy who ripped it up her first time here. And in some slippery slower stuff. I know my first time at this race, it was dry, much easier and the climb out was breakin me. I thought it'd never end..

I ran a 2.2 rocket ron snakeskin on the front, 23psi and an Ikon 2.10 tubeless specific, 28psi on da rear. Gravity dropper wasn't necessary, but fun and glad I left it on..

Ok, lookin forward to the Lemurian.

see ya
