Well, I am def getting faster (at least uphill, with several  big climb PRs and KOMs-like Big Rock Ridge segments to teh towers from queenstone and burger king, both over 2000'), but have hit a wall in terms of weight at 173lb for the last week. Going to keep at it and hope to start to peak for the Napa Dirt Classic, which is quickly followed by Sea Otter and Boggs 8hr. The new bike is also going to be ~5lbs lighter than my Tallboy too, so that should help, although I might have to revise my original goal of 165lbs to something closer to 170lbs. Excited to get back out and compete, and should be in the new team kit to boot.

 

As for the cramps I was experiencing, I believe I have them solved now by taking magnesium and potassium supplements and increasing my carbs slightly during the day and before/during/after workouts.

 

My birthday bike build project is coming along, and I am super geeked to get it all together and shaken down for Napa in just a few weeks. Hoping to have it built by this weekend for a dawn to dusk group ride...should be able to get everything sorted on a long all day ride like that. All the parts are ready for assembly, just waiting on the fork and frame to arrive :)

Hey Ryan, I'm 6'2+/-3 and 172 lbs seems to be an optimum "trade off" weight for me (any less than that and training fatigue is a problem)...but I'm an old fart and most things are a problem.

Haha, thanks Paul. I appreciate your feedback, because I am really starting to feel strong and balanced, and another 8lbs seems really hard. I have been 170 before and felt like a rocket, so that might be my optimum...with your input and what my body has been telling me, 165 might be too far to go. It does feel oh so good to be fit and efficient! See you soon at Napa.
