Skyline. Continuing a bad season but having fun.

This is one of my favorite raced courses. Its nothing but steep loose climbs and decents with stair like drop offs with lots of sharp rocks. I got to the start line a little late and had to stand in the grass along with a few others (I gotta remember to show up early to get a good starting position). I hammered my way through the dusty fire road start and ended up somewhere just behind mid pack when we hit the singletrack. about half way through the first lap one of those rocks punched a hole in my front tire. frustrated but not down I fixed the flat and got back to work giving it all to make back the time I had lost. I turns out it takes lots energy to pass slower racers. about half way through the third lap I started catching some of the group i was originally riding with. but theses were guys that and bonked and fallen off the back, I was alright with that. My legs were done, the technical climbs had taken their tool. and by my figuring the top guys in my class were about 15 minutes ahead of me crossing the finish line as my legs told me to find a shady spot to take a nap. I finished off the race in sixth place, I happy with that considering a bad start and flat tire. I'll be back next year, hopefully in better shape, to take on the challenge of this course.
